I’m a dreamer. I love to let visions for my life, for the world, swirl in my mind, in my heart - an ever-present desire for more, more, more. This tendency of mine is a gift. It’s what has inspired many a dream come true.
Without it, I don’t think I would’ve opened my business at the ripe ‘ole age of 21. I might not have taken up riding right before my 30th birthday, moved out to our land, signed up for my first Human Design class… the list could go on and on.
But, like many things, this desire for more, more, more can be a slippery slope, because it can also come with an ever-present feeling of discontent. Disappointment that things aren’t exactly how I envision their potential, right now. A feeling of being too confined by my life.
Just a hunch, but I bet you know exactly what I mean. 😉
I read an email from one of my first yoga teachers yesterday. She’s accepted an old challenge from the time-honored Judith Lasater to do less, less, less as she heads into the New Year. Specifically, can you do 10% less every day?
We’ll see how I do, but just the imagining of it… I can feel a small weight I didn’t realize I was carrying slide right off my shoulders. Less, Less, less. It broadens my perspective to include more beauty, not just my visions for “more”. It helps me remember that I love this little life I’ve built.
Even with the fence that needs to be fixed and the dust bunnies in the corners and the last few gifts that need to be wrapped.
Instead, I notice the paperwhites blooming on the little table my Gramps built that sits in the front window, a gift from my mother. I see the light in my son’s eyes as he comes out of the haze of wisdom teeth surgery, a welcome return. I linger in my husband’s hug before he takes off for work, something I only slow down enough to savor when I’m leaning into less, into presence.
Sigh.
As I try my best to walk my talk, I’ll be taking a break from popping in here until after the New Year. I may post a bit on Insta if you’d like to stay in touch (but I also may not 😂 #manifestorlife). Behind the scenes, I’ll be putting my work efforts toward some cool stuff to come in 2024. Can’t wait to share it all with you!
In the meantime, take care, happy holidays, and here’s to less, less, less.
Xo,
Hannah
PS - I’d love to hear how your holiday season is going if you’d like to reply or share in the comments. It always makes my day! ☺️
