This is the thread...
From the outside looking in, my business offers a smattering of things: mindfulness with horses, yoga, Human Design...
Having them all under one business "roof" feels good to me, but I've been trying to name exactly what it is that makes them make sense all together, from the outside looking in. And I think I've landed on just the thing: CONNECTION.
I believe we are souls living in a human body, and so many of us (especially in the Western world) spend so much time up in our heads that it can be easy to forget about all the rest. You know, bellies and arms and legs and such.
That's why I love the simplicity of a mindfulness meditation with the horses... breathe in, breathe out... open to sensation... oh, there you are, toes. And suddenly, you are connected again, not only to yourself or even the giant four-leggeds around you, but also the big, wild world at large. You remember what it is to have a body, to be a human.
Yoga can do the same. One of my teachers, Matt, told us one day in training that you can't receive feedback if you can't occupy the body at some level below the neck. Connection with yourself, in your body, and the world around you is what allows you to truly engage, to let life in. To feel fully present and alive.
And Human Design... it's always pointing us back to the body, to the wisdom the body holds about what's in our best interest - before the mind gets involved and tries to run the show. It's all about a deeper connection to self and how we relate to everything around us...
So there you have it. 😉 The thread that runs through all my work. The simple but profound practice of checking in instead of checking out. Of cultivating a deeper connection to yourself, so you can experience a deeper connection to your life, your purpose, how you want to spend your time, what you want to create in the world.
Puts a smile on my face every time. ☺️ Here’s more if you’re interested:
