1) I'm over efforting in all sorts of ways, I think. I'm doing a lot of little things that don't need doing right NOW. Or don't need doing in order for the job to be done well enough. You know? I'm also noticing how much time I spend in the car... I could probably free up some time in my schedule by looking at how my day flows from one thing to the next and consolidating a bit.

2) What would be available to me if I freed up some energy? Some rest! And more time with my horses. :) More space to putter around my property and get my hands in the dirt with my kids. I'm after the simple things right now. Sounds so nice!

"has me more interested than ever in how I can create a more sustainable life." YES! I've really worked hard for a long while to stop over-efforting and still slip when more interesting things show up. Or when my people around me need a bit more help.

What's available to me....? More rest for sure. And probably more play. I could use more play in my life.

Yes, I'm adding play to my list, too! And staying aware of how I can react in a more sustainable way when my people need more help. I hadn't even thought about how that plays into my busyness... but it sure does! 🤔

I’ve learned that responding to the needs of my family is what most commonly throws a hitch in my stride. There’s just no graceful way to keep what’s on my plate and then add in the extra they need when they are sick or off their game. Either I carry it all and feel exhausted or clear my plate and then pick it up later.

I usually tend to choose exhaustion. I'm going to try clearing my plate next time! I bet it will be worth it.

I know I need to move my body more. I think about yoga but don't even own a mat. I love the kind of yoga that says, "how can you do even less?" just like you are describing here. Somehow, I know that getting outside more and moving my body more will give me MORE space and energy and health but they both feel like so. much. effort. I am grateful for drop-off and pick-up days with my daughter because they guarantee I will both get outside and go for a walk. I am wondering how to entice myself to see the ways these things will take less effort than I anticipate...

Yes, yes, yes. I'm feeling the same way about getting outside for walks... funny, because I live on a dang farm. In the same way you're grateful for drop-offs, I'm grateful for the animals I care for - they ensure that I'm outside at some point every day, no matter the weather. At the moment, I've accepted that some extra accountability is what helps me get where I want to go. The animals, meeting a friend at a certain time, teacher training that requires I practice certain things for a certain amount of time... 😂 And PS - you don't need a mat. Just whatever floor space you've got and whatever you need to help your joints feel good (for some, just being on a rug is plenty). I swear I'm going to record a short practice soon. Currently gathering courage...

Ooh! Could you please do a post about how to practice yoga at home without yoga equipment? Like what household items one could use? I don’t have any rugs and my joints would be very unhappy on the parquet floor!

Yeah! Maybe that's what I'll focus on when I record a short practice. I think I can easily create one where no props are needed at all. :)
