What draws me to horses? Their instinct for freedom! I think we are drawn because our souls instinctively want expansion. Like them, We don’t want to be stuck or confined. We are meant to expand, grow, progress. I think they are a wonderful symbol of that.
This is so beautiful and so relatable! I was also the little girl who only got to ride the pony at the fair with a very brief period where I was able to convince my parents to sign me up for lessons. For me, growing up with a chronic illness that made me become out of breath so easily, horses represented the ultimate freedom. If I was on the back of a horse, I could go fast and not worry about a coughing fit starting or having to stop to catch my breath. On road trips as a kid, I'd imagine I could see myself on the back of a horse, running in the field alongside our car. Thank you for the inspiration that it's never too late! ❤️
I did the same thing as a little girl! Even as an adult, after I started riding, I would stare out the window from the passenger seat and imagine riding up the hills into the woods on the back of my mustang. Still do sometimes. ☺️ Horse girls at heart!
Horses don’t care what you look like or the clothes you wear. They don’t place any value in the color of your hair or the shape of your body. They judge you based on your actions: are you trustworthy? are you kind? are you consistent? Do you show up day in and day out, in sun or rain or snow and give what you can? They show us how to enjoy the simple things: green grass and a trough full of water, a good scratch and easy companionship. They know who their friends are.
Being around them invites me into a communication beyond words, reminding me to speak in and through my body. Riding centers me, reminding me that the subtlest cues matter, my breath, the shift of my weight. It's orgasmic to slip into that zone of fluid balance, even if it only lasts for a few moments, it keeps me coming back.
Yes! I spent last weekend with a herd I’d never met, and it was such a great reminder of the power of the unseen energy/communication we share. That level of sensitivity and connection is definitely addictive. ❤️
